Owner and Principal, Research to Practice, LLC

Katie Coleman Headshot

Katie Coleman, M.S.P.H., is the owner and principal at Research to Practice, LLC, where she leverages extensive experience working with a diverse range of health care organizations, research entities, and primary care practices on practical research-based initiatives covering topics including team-based care, population health management, and clinic-community connections. Before starting Research to Practice, LLC, Coleman spent 18 years at Group Health Cooperative/Kaiser Permanente (KP) as a health services researcher and faculty department director. While there, she co-founded the Center for Accelerating Care Transformation (previously MacColl Center) and directed KP’s national learning and research network on health-related social needs—the Social Needs Network for Evaluation and Translation (SONNET). In those roles, she led large-scale research, implementation, and evaluation studies and developed pragmatic methods to bring quantitative and qualitative information to decision makers, including rapid evidence reviews and implementation measurement tools. She has written more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and dozens of practical guides and toolkits to support policy and practice improvement in primary care. She began her career in a large federally qualified health system in Chicago and is now based in Seattle. Coleman earned an M.S.P.H. in health policy and administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
