Renuka Tipirneni

Renuka Tipirneni, M.D., is an associate professor of internal medicine, associate professor of health management and policy, codirector of the National Clinician Scholars Program, and a practicing general internist at the University of Michigan. Her research and quality improvement activities focus on investigating and enhancing the effectiveness of health policies and programs for disadvantaged populations. She serves as program director of the MSHIELD collaborative quality initiative, which aims to identify and address patients’ health-related social needs across the state of Michigan. Tipirneni is the recipient of the Society of General Internal Medicine Outstanding Junior Investigator Award and the Mid-Career Research Mentorship Award, the American Journal of Managed Care Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award, and the American Public Health Association Erickson Foundation Research Award in Positive Aging. Tipirneni earned an M.D. at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, did her internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, and did health services research training in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Michigan.
