Melanie Marino, M.S., is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University. Her research is in the area of health care sustainability, examining the complex interdependencies between the health care sector, the environment, and public health outcomes. She has collaborated on international projects with the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change, contributed to life cycle assessments of medical products and procedures, and led research exploring plastic use and pollution in health care. Her work combines industrial ecology methods with policy analysis to advance sustainability and resilience in the health sector. She aims to support the transformation of the sector to promote health and deliver effective care within the planet’s ecological boundaries. Marino earned an M.S. in engineering and public policy from Northeastern University.
