Mark B. Stephens, M.D., is professor of family and community medicine, professor of humanities, associate dean for medical education, and master educator for the Penn State College of Medicine University Park Regional Campus in State College, Pa. Stephens served for more than 25 years as a family physician for the U.S. Navy, retiring as chair of the department of family medicine at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Md. His professional interests include rural health, physician wellness, exercise medicine, and the use of art to promote professional identity formation in medical education. Stephens earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and a master’s degree in kinesiology from Penn State.
